“Caroline Smith. I’m so ready to stop calling you that.”
He held a journal in his hands, and stood with his back to his bride. She laughed against him, ready to take his name. They held hands and read love letters to each other before their ceremony, never spoiling the surprise of seeing each other before Caroline’s big walk down the aisle.
She got ready in her mother’s bedroom, pulling her stunning lace gown on while her bridesmaids waited patiently outside. No one had seen the dress before that day, and when they did, they squealed with excitement. Caroline was, and is, absolutely breathtaking, and her joy is infectious.
And as they parted ways after reading, Caroline returning inside to her girls, I took Sam to the front of the house for a few portraits with him and his family. His relatives were so proud and delighted, and Sam couldn’t stop smiling. Today was the day.
It was a gorgeous evening in Jonesboro as Sam and Caroline wed on her family’s farm. The ceremony took place at the edge of the pond, below the hill from the old and new barns, right in their backyard. It was gorgeous in every way. Guests laughed and wiped tears as these two wonderful souls were brought together, and everyone rejoiced as they were announced husband and wife.
And then the party began.
I love how our culture celebrates a new marriage. We get together and we dance. We use music as a way of expressing happiness, and the night these two were married, the happiness was overflowing. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
I’ll never forget Caroline’s amazing bridesmaids, and their kindness and friendship shown toward us that day. Or Sam’s groomsmen, who totally nailed my Might Ducks reference and went nuts on the dance floor. Or catching both sets of parents dancing together during moments of pure bliss. Or the way the crowd cheered every time Sam grabbed his girl during the reception, holding her tight, laughing with her, showing the world their love.
Congratulations, Caroline and Sam. Sending so much love your way. Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your day. It was absolutely one of the best days ever, and we wish you both all the joy in the world.
Special thanks to my second shooter, Mel, who nailed so many wonderful getting ready photos (many of which you see below) and reception details (also seen below), and just rocking this one in general. And as always, thanks to Kirsten, who keeps us organized, hydrated, equipped, mostly on time, and happily fed. Best assistant ever.
